All you need to know about colon hydrotherapy

Colon hydrotherapy or colonic irrigation releases faecal matter, gas and toxins from your body by gently bathing the colon in purified water. We will introduce around 75 litres of water into your colon as well as provide 2 herbal enemas. A disposable plastic speculum is inserted into the anal cavity up to the safety grip. The water is then introduced into the colon. You will be placed on your left-hand side for at least ½ tank, this helps get rid of any matter lodged in the descending, sigmoid colon and rectum. You are then turned over onto your back. This is so that we can massage your colon to help stimulate and dislodge any stool and gas in your colon. During this procedure we will introduce herbs to help stimulate the exodus of stool and gas. The procedure helps to distend the rectum and bowel, thus stimulating mass peristalsis (often missing with people suffering from IBS and constipation). It helps soften the stool and removes or reduces the pathogens and toxins in the colon.

How often should individuals undergo this treatment?

Each individual is different, and the treatment is customised based on your needs and an initial consultation. You should have a colonic at least twice a year if you suffer from IBS, bloating, constipation or for detox.

If you suffer from constipation, you should come in every six weeks initially, until your colon has been taught how to function properly on its own

Keeping you healthy and fit

Bloating is often a sign of dysbiosis in the colon i.e. having one or more non-beneficial or pathogenic organisms, they cause excess gas, fermentation and can lead to bloody diarrhoea.

It is advisable that after a colonic treatment you have a probiotic implant, this contains 75 billion good bacteria. These good bacteria will start attaching themselves to the colon wall. This will help you and your colon stay healthy. Contact Colonic Hydrotherapy Clinic West Midlands now for a probiotic implant.
